That makes sustainability less about following one model and more about finding approaches that work in local conditions.

That is why education and access to practical guidance matter so much. Extension programs, agricultural advisors, cooperatives and producer networks can help farmers understand new techniques and decide which ones make sense for their operations. Sharing knowledge between producers can be just as valuable as introducing new technology.
The transition also needs to work for smaller producers. Access to financing, equipment, training and reliable markets can determine whether a farmer is able to adopt more sustainable practices. Programs that recognize those realities are more likely to produce lasting results than approaches that assume every farm has the same resources.
